Technical reference covering fiber ball filter media structure, physical & chemical performance parameters and main applications for standard and modified types.
← Back to Fiber Ball Filter MediaFiber ball filter media are formed by tying and knotting fiber filaments into balls. The media are flexible and compressible, with good elasticity; they do not float, have high porosity and a density slightly greater than water, are easy to backwash, and offer good wear and chemical resistance. During filtration the void in the filter bed gradually decreases along the direction of flow, closely matching the ideal distribution of large voids above and small voids below. This gives high efficiency, a fast filtration rate (20–85 m/h), strong dirt-holding capacity, reusability and low operating cost, making it suitable for a wide range of water qualities.
Standard fiber ball media are white; modified fiber ball media are light yellow / yellowish. The standard type is used for about one year before replacement, while the modified type, chemically modified, can last up to about two years.
Common diameters: Φ15–25 mm and 25–30 mm (media ball diameter Φ25/30/40/50/80 mm). Physical and chemical performance — Table 3-34.
