Elastic (three-dimensional) packing is a hanging biofilm carrier. Elastic plastic filaments with corrugations and micro-burrs are fixed along a central rope and radiate in a spiral, three-dimensional arrangement, so they spread evenly through the water. The semi-rigid strands cut rising air bubbles repeatedly — raising oxygen transfer and aeration efficiency — while the slight vibration from the air and water flow creates turbulence that brings organics, oxygen and microorganisms together. Long service life, good aeration performance, low power consumption, fast biofilm start-up, easy shedding, high shock-load resistance, no clogging or balling and low cost.

A soft-packing bundle collapses into a knot and leaves the water around it doing nothing. Elastic packing holds its shape, so the surface you pay for is the surface the biofilm actually uses.
The filaments are anchored along the rope and spring outward on their own. They do not tangle into a dense core, so there is no dead zone in the middle of the module.
Water and air are redistributed as they pass each module, which keeps the biofilm in contact with the substrate and discourages the thick, anaerobic layer that sheds in patches.
Modules are strung on a centre rope and hung in rows from an upper frame. No complex support structure is needed, and a single module can be lifted out for inspection.
