The plastic rosette ring was introduced by Teller A. J. (United States, 1954) and is known as the Teller rosette ring. Its main features are high voidage and resistance to plugging, together with high capacity and low resistance; the gaps in the packing hold a relatively high liquid holdup, so liquid stays longer in the tower, increasing gas–liquid contact time and mass-transfer efficiency. It was first studied and introduced by the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry for metallurgical duty.

The geometry does the work: the vane rings open the bed up so gas passes through easily, while the pockets between them hold liquid back so the two phases have time to exchange.
Void space runs from 82% at Φ25 mm to 95% at Φ145 mm, so the bed offers a large open path for the gas. Pressure drop, fan power and the risk of flooding all stay low across the packed height.
The gaps between the radiating vanes hold liquid in the bed, so a given volume of liquid stays inside the packing longer. Gas and liquid therefore have a longer contact time, which is what raises the mass-transfer efficiency of the column.
The frame has no fine openings and no continuous flat plate where solids can settle, so the bed resists plugging and nesting. It is also easy to unload, wash and re-load, which is why it is used in both new columns and repacking work.

Surface area, void space, packing count, dry packing factor and dimensions above are the figures published for this packing class in industry vendor literature. Published values do not always agree: packing count is quoted as 170,000 and 175,000 pieces per m³ for Φ25 mm and as 3,600 and 3,900 pieces per m³ for Φ95 mm, surface area for Φ25 mm is also quoted as 195 m²/m³ by one source, and bulk density for the same nominal size ranges from about 46 kg/m³ to 128 kg/m³ across sources. The ranges shown above are the figures supported by the majority of sources; every parameter we can guarantee is confirmed against the order, and anything we cannot confirm is stated on request rather than quoted. Send us the duty and we will state them.

Send the gas or water flow, the medium, the operating temperature and the target removal — we will confirm the right size, material, quantity and export packaging.
